Oz Beeswax: Chemical Free Cleaning Hacks For Your Home

Bicarb and vinegar are the go to products when cleaning your home, just throw in some lemon, water, salt, dish-wash liquid and beeswax and you have solutions to clean just about anything in your home.  Let's take a look at how you can use these products to give your home some chemical free cleaning.

Make your microwave clean itself with this simple hack.

Place some water, a tablespoon of vinegar and a little lemon juice in a microwave safe bowl or mug.  Zap it for 3 minutes to get the water boiling and steam up the inside of your microwave.  Leave the door shut after the cooking time ends for at least 5 minutes for the steam to continue working and loosen the grime.  Then it's time to remove your bowl or mug carefully because it is still going to be hot.  Now you can wipe down the sides of the microwave with a clean damp cloth.

If you're not into scrubbing, then you can try this easy lemon hack.

Simply cut 5 lemons in half and pour the juice into a baking tray.   Add the lemon ends and bake at 250°C for 30 minutes.  As the lemon heat and evaporates it will perform a steam clean on your oven.  Allow the oven to cool and wipe out with a damp cloth.

Cleaning your fridge is as simple as mixing 1 cup hot water with 1 cup vinegar in a spray bottle.

You can then spray the solution inside your fridge and spraying heavily on soiled areas and allow it to soak in.

While it's soaking you can remove and wash the shelves and drawers with warm soapy water, rise and dry.
Your fridge should then be ready to wipe everything down with a rag, and place the items back in.
To help keep your fridge smelling great you can place a few slices of lemon on a plate and leave them to sit inside your fridge.
The lemon slices will soak up any unpleasant scents and help keep your fridge smelling great.

Wooden cutting boards

To give your chopping boards a deep clean simply sprinkle a heap of coarse salt over the board and then rub it over with a lemon that has been cut in half.  Lightly squeeze the lemon to release its juice.  Let sit for five minutes before washing off.  Then once your cutting board is dry conditioning your board with beeswax is one of the best ways to make your board last.  You can use Oz Beeswax Leather & Timber conditioner to hydrate, shine, and waterproof your cutting boards. Simply apply a little of the Oz Beeswax Leather & Timber on the provided sponge to evenly distribute the oils and wax.  Beeswax is antifungal so no mould can grow on it and leaves a non greasy feeling.  Need to stock up you can order it here.

A way to clean your toilet without flushing down chemicals.

Add ½ cup baking soda to the bowl with around 10 drops of tea tree essential oil.  Then add ¼ cup vinegar to the bowl and scrub while the mixture fizzes.  Flush away to reveal your clean toilet.

Need to clean your shower & tub?

Simply place ½ cup bicarb soda in a bowl and add enough vinegar to form a paste.  Once the fizzing stops apply this mixture to build up affected areas and let sit for 15 minutes.  Then you can scrub over the area with a sponge and wash away any residue.  To help prevent scum build up you can apply a light coating of  beeswax to your shower tiles and glass screen.  The beeswax will naturally help prevent scum build up and make it easier for you to clean your shower next time.

Windows and Mirrors

You can use a simple solution in a spray bottle of  1 part white vinegar with 4 parts water.  You can then spray this solution to your windows of mirrors to wipe away the dirt.  To stop oxidation of your aluminum window frame simply apply some beeswax to them.  You can also apply beeswax to clean window rails.  Apply a light coat and open and close the window several times to distribute the beeswax and lubricate all of the area.   Need some beeswax?  You can order that here.
